Description: Jack Perlmutter was an authority on Japanese prints and a Fulbright Research Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts. He was Chairman of the Printmaking Department at the Corcoran Gallery of Art from 1960 to 1982 and he was commissioned by NASA to portray Apollo and space shuttle missions in the 1970's and 1980's. Washington Post critic Leslie Judd Portner once wrote of Perlmutter's paintings that "They are so complex in the organization, so overbusy, that they hit the eye like broken glass." |
